So I was never happy with the mesh Rieger provided for the openings in the rear skirt. Neither was I happy with just leaving them as big gaping holes. I procrastinated for quite a while, but I finally just sat down and did it.

I started with raw expanded metal in a thickness and pattern density I liked. I cut and molded it to fit inside the openings. I painted them and cut out openings for the exhaust. Finally I epoxied brackets on the inside of the bumper...and viola!

Sorry for the **** poor lighting conditions in the garage...it is late and I just finished the work...and the place is a rental so I am no looking to invest in lighting.

In the beginning....there were two big holes

Cut and molded the expanded metal

Cut openings for the exhaust and sprayed some flat black paint

And....let there be mesh!

All raw materials.....thank you very much!

very very fine pattern...almost couldn't even see it. it looked more like there was jsut a tinted film in the openings. In addition, being so fine it collected water and dirt very quickly and easily.

i have always liked rieger kits. an ex gf of mine had an E46 with a hamman kit that got damaged when she hit an armadillo. She decided as opposed to reparing it she wanted a new kit, so we got a reiger kit and i installed it for her. Those things fit better than any kit i have ever dealt with...very little if any tweaking at all. The kit i put on my benz was very much the same

i already tossed the packaging that the material came in, but it was just a thick expanded steel. I went to a trailer manufacturer that had tons of random raw metals and picked the one I liked the best

as for the rust...i prepped the metal before paint and laid the paint on pretty thick, so I am hoping that won't be the case, but if it happens, i guess i will do it again.

Thanks for the props everyone
