Resonator question

hi guys, i have a few questions regarding the resonator deletion. Is there noticable hp gain ? Does the exhaust sounds louder? My local shop told me that my car will sounds funny without the resonator. Any help will be great, i will get a custom cat-back piping done anyway but i am a bit worry about how the resonator deletion will effects the exhaust sounds.

It'll definitely give it a deeper tone to it but it may be too loud for certain people. It all depends on your preferences.

removing ur resonator will def make that thing raspy...leave it as is...maybe if u had a v6/8 id say remove it...but the I4 wont be too great.

btw it sounds clean..nice choice, love the diff route of modding u did. i love that spoiler!

A guy at my local my local muffler shop started preaching to me about how removing the resonator will cause a major loss of hp and how the german engineers need the back pressure from it

Im thinking a load of BS
Any other information would be great

Can you post a clip of the new exhaust note. Although with all those mods our cars wont sound anything like yours, especially with that cam. Do you have a high flow cat? Just curious about two things. One: any raspy sounds at take off or in general and two: if your car is supercharged did you notice a loss in torque. The back pressure our cars had from the factory kept the exhaust manifold or in your case the header filled up to create that boost. I can imagine your h/p has definitely improved. The clip before your resonator removal sounded like a beast! How much h/p and torque do you have?

I just deleted my resonator today and am so freakin happy I could....well, I'm happy. The sound is great. The performance seems unchanged, but it sounds great. Did I mention, it sounds great.

The exhaust system is all stock except for the kleemann sport muffler and a custom 4-2-1 header. The cat is stock.

Please forgive my English but what is raspy sounds?

No, there was no loss in torque. In fact my header gets 5hp through out the rpm range and a 15hp increase after 5500rpm on the dyno. Why would a kompressor engine need back pressure to the header filled? The kompressor is belt driven not like turbo, so freeing up the exhaust system shouldnt have any ill effects at all.

no man my resonator is still intact. but i am thinking about deleting it and enlarge the after cat piping to 2.5 or 3" to accomodate the cam and ported head. All I am worry about now is the louder noise.

The C200K baseline got 163hp flywheel or about 130 hp on dyno. The car Hp with pulley, exhaust, and header was 169 on dyno, however i havingnot done any dyno after the cam, ECU Flash, and head porting yet. My best guess is around 185 to 190 cant be sure, however will keep you posted. It still a very slow cars compare to the models in the US.
