Yes, I have an auto and can chirp 2nd if I try (takes practice to get the timing right), once a friend that was driving got a small chirp in 3rd too.

I do it all the time with ESP off. 1st to 2nd is easy and 2nd to 3rd is not that hard.

Exactly how do you do that?? I tried but all I got was a jerky ride with no chirp. Maybe I don't know how to properly drive a stick

1. Disable spin control

2. Put car in first gear.

3. Rev to 5000 rpm.

4. As quickly as you can, get your foot off the clutch pedal.

That's all there is to it. Why anyone would WANT to make themselves look like an idiot in their MB hatchback "chirping" their tire like a pimply faced teenager in a '92 Honda Civic is an entirely different question altogether.

I know about the following 1/4 miles with brand new cars;

Road and Track 15.7@88.9
MotorWeek 15.6@92
Edmunds 15.8@87.8

My guess is that if you took a C230 with a pulley with a good test driver (not me) you may break 15 seconds. Add a tuned intake and chip and mid 14's are very possible. Not too bad to knock over a second off a 1/4 mile for under a grand. Beat out a $40K+BMW 300Ci.

I figured it was cause I've gotten 2-3 enough but 3-4 huh? I'm sure you were speeding just a tad? Most impressive.

making the tires spin between gear shifts. When racing its good to have just a little chirp cause then you know your getting all the power to the ground.

the stock times are not that bad. but i wish they were better.

I wonder how much different they would be with a auto.

man your time really sucked. u did worse than stock with a pully.
LOL :p

u should try to go to the track again i would be curious what time u get.

i think it would take a great 8/10 driver to beat a auto in the quarter. The manny's are faster, but it takes a great driver to do it. With the auto you just mash the gas. All I would do for the track would be do a burnout (a small one) to heat the tires up, turn off esp and go. I think the pulley will be more benificial with the auto, cause you never want to lay a patch of rubber for 20ft. a little chirp and bark here-and-there is ok but not a freakin burnout, or spinning like the Ferrari in the video did.

Well start out by flooring it to just below the redline (a few hundred rpm below), let off just a bit then quickly push the pedal all the way down (to engage the button) if you get the timing right you can chirp this way with the auto.

Yeah it wasn't worded great, chirping the tires is what this is about, and yeah its fun, esp. 2-3. Now I gotta find the right time and try for 3-4. Definitely risky speed wise I guess but it would be a nice rush.

Last time Road & Track tested the C-coupe they said their professional drivers couldn't make that much of a significant difference (I think it was < 0.2s).

I have a manual and don't consider myself a "great" driver, although I think I did a great launch with the GTech Pro. And I ran a 15.19 at 95.3 mph. And this was before I put my Kleemann pulley in. This was the only real fast run I did because I didn't think I could do much better. The manual definitely will outrun the auto if you do it right. You just have to slip the clutch but it wears it out more than i would like. So I tried not to do too many aggressive launches.

15.19 is pretty impressive stock.

No 1/4 yet

I haven't run the 1/4 yet with the pulley. It actually doesn't feel like the 230hp that Kleemann claims. I don't know if anyone else's cars feel the same way. It isn't much quicker off the line, probably because of the computer, and it does start pulling harder as it revs, but it just doesn't feel as powerful as I expected.

I ran a 6.8 0-60 without the pulley on the same run. Then I went out with the pulley and Gtech Pro and was running like 7.2 sec. This was before I gave the computer a chance to adapt and I never got the space to do a quarter run. And I haven't done it since. I'm going to put a K&N cone on this week and maybe I'll run it after that.

Just remember that you have to shift twice before 60 and 3 times before the quarter mile (but the auto doesnt), so that hurts the times a little bit.
