Window scratch- Coupe

Does any body else have a vertical scratch on the passsenger window?
Mine is at the top 2" from the rear and 2-3" long. Acura Legends used to have a similar problem which was attributed to an internal problem in the door. They warranteed those.

I think he mentions this because people have had trouble w/ the inside rubber strip scratching tinted window surfaces. Some people have had "moleskin" applied to the rubber strip to avoid the problem.

hate to dig up an old post....but trying to avoid the STFF tag.

This is happening to the windows in my car. No tint, is this truly a warranty item or will the delaer pawn this off as "that's your own doing by trash in the window sill"

I would say it's a warranty item. I have a Coupé, and didn't tint my windows until about a year into ownership. Haven't had a scratch with or without tint.

Is the scratch on the inside or the outside of the window ?
Have you taken your door panel apart for any reason ?

I would take it in, and rant about how much you keep your car clean and free of debris, and let them know that there must be something inside the door that's scratching your window, and ask for a fix and a replacement window.

Yeah its on the inside of both driver and rear passenger window..

ugggg I just hate dealing with my dealer...only one in town and they such a pain in the azz.

EDIT: Correction, its on the outside of the rear passenger...so that's probably a dead end there.

that does kinda suck.
I have 3 local MB dealers within 20 miles of my house, and if one doesn't give me the "We're sorry, we'll fix it for you under warranty" line, then I just go to the next one who will !

good luck, combine the problem with some other minor warranty item, so they can just lump it together. If it's your Service Advisor, just find out when he's not there, and use another one. If it's the Service Manager, then skip him, and go to the Tech Supervisor. Someone's gotta be helpful there.

sounds like to me that you (808_230K) might not have moleskin or felt installed, when they did your window tint ?

if it does have moleskin or felt, then there's something inside your door scratching your window, or maybe the moleskin/felt fell off or wasn't installed correctly.

Moleskin, foreskin, whatever...

Had my windows tinted on my C230KSS one year ago. No scratches, no marks (no moleskin installed, either). The real key is keeping the tint itself clean (with ammonia-free window cleaner and a cotton t-shirt.)

I got it right after buying the car... it's too freakin' hot down here to NOT have tint...

should call the place I took it to, I honestly don't know if they put anything in or not.

and it's not scratched from not keeping the glass clean
