WD-40 on Stock Wheels?
Hey guys,
I STFF and found one topic regarding spraying WD-40 on a cloth, then spot-wiping the car down to remove grease/tar stains on the paint. I recently had new tires installed on my C, and the stealership mucked on grease stains all over my stock wheels during the installation. I came across the WD-40 thread, but none of the replies there stated if it actually worked or not.........
Is spraying WD-40 on a cloth and wiping the grease off my wheels going to work without damaging the clearcoat/paint on the wheels, or is there a better solution?
Thanks!

WD-40 is a good product, and is a mild solvent. It is good for removing stickers, displacing water from connectors, and chasing squeaks from patio doors, but it leaves a residue.
For cleaning tar, grease and oils from my car I get this stuff from an automotive paint supply shop. (Bob Downey & Sons West Whittier Paint Co.)
It comes in a liter can and is called Sure Solv. Mostly Naptha and Xyelne, a great no residue solvent. Sinks a bit, but does not linger if you remove a grease spot from the carpet.

I used WD40, works well for removing stuck on tar, grease, stickers, etc. Safer on paint than using an extreme product like Goof Off that etches into the paint and makes it dull. Just use the WD40 to get the stain off and then wash it with regular car wash soap to clean off the WD40 residue.

The wheels should be treated as ny painted body part. I scrub with brush, wash with mitt then dry with chamois & paper towel - all using Meguiars Gold class.

Just use SimpleGreen....it's a mild, organic soap/solvent that won't damage the finish....then wax the wheel's with Meguire's or a similar quality product.
