Broken front windshield

Soooo this past new years weekend I got owned by a rock on the freeway, and im trying to deal with my insurance to get it covered. They called mercedes in san francisco to get me the right windshield but the parts guy there is telling me I have a green front windshield with a grey top tint.... and im thinking no......... im pretty sure its more blue than green.

Can anyone give me more info on this?

Judging from the flight of the rock, I can assume it came from the 6th floor of the Book Depository...correct Mr. Spector ?

Don't know what your deductible is but a new OEM window done by a good glass shop is about $300 give or take a few bucks. That's why I like our Jeep Wrangler, you can just fold the window out of the way, just bring goggles.

In your drawings, the windshield is more of a robbin egg blue. Here's a link from color experts Crayola - http://www.crayola.com/colorcensus/a....cfm?color=308

it's pretty damn obvious the pressure from the rock tossed his doors a-flyin.

I got mine replaced for $500 (maybe $505 or something). They said something about the rain sensor making it cost more. My insurance deductible is $500 so I didn't want to give them anything to whine about. (don't knock me about my insurance deductible....my wife is the alcoholic with the DUI on her record.) Without the rain sensor they quoted around what that damn lochness monsa wanted.....tree fitty.

sorry to hear what happened john

my insurance covered my windshield when i got hit by a rock and it started cracking. my deductible was $300, but my buddy works for a safelite auto glass and he waived my deductible. they replaced it with ppg glass and not the oem, but ppg is close enough standard for me.

his works is pretty good. he even took off the mercedes sticker and put it on the aftermarket windshield when he worked on a mercedes of course.

It's what MB-Bob got on his car, rain sensor and all. The brand was Pilkinton or something like that which is the MB OEM windshield without the star logo.

The one nice thing about Florida is that comprehensive insurance covers the replacement of a windsheild at no cost or increase in premium to the policy holder. I used this when a certain mechanic opened his garage door and ripped the overhead light fixture from it's mount on to the front of my car. Apparently it's a state law requiring insurance companies to replace broken windshields gratis.
