Exclamation AC problem...

I've got a 2002 C230 Coupe and for the past two months the A/C has not worked properly. For some reason the center vents won't blow hot air. The air that comes out is cold while the passenger and driver side vents blow hot air. I know the air is getting heated just not nearly as much as the other vents. When its 20 degrees in the morning i close the center vents to heat the car but after a while i open them up and the air is cool but not nearly as cold as when i started the car and still not nearly as hot as the other vents. If anyone can help me figure out the problem I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
-Erik

BUMP! I need to know this too, the middle vents to do blow hot air, are they not suppose to or is this a problem?

My Audis all had a switch would allow you to blow cold air through the center vents whatever the temperature settings (in case you needed to defrost the windows and didn't want to start sweating...), maybe you have the same option. Other than that you may have a servo which is blown and thus not allowing the diverter to change positions.....

The 2002 coupe was unique, there's a knob on top of the dash that you spin to close up outside air and one between the vents. In the newer C230's they got rid of it. Check your owners manual. So it's possible if you have the knobs set right to have cold outside air (although today it's 70F here) out the center vents even though you have the heat on coming out of other orifices.

So does that mean that the middle vents do not blow hot air?

It's also worth mentioning that I have a 2003 C-320, so curious what's the deal with mine?

ok thanks, I will try the knobs at different settings and see if there is any change, but I usually close the center vents and I just use the center blue knob to do so therefore I don't think thats it but maybe I accidentally pressed a button at sometime...

My problem is similiar, 2000 C230 and the A/C on the left side works fine, but every so often the right side will only blow hot air. Does anyone know if the servos are manual or electric on the 2000?

Thanks,
Joey

MB is already easy... Bimmer has lot of button and knob you could change temp. 1 on steering wheels, 2 next to vents. 1 on climate control, lol mixing them blow cold air....
