ATTN w203 EBAYERS
Zomk-speed is selling broken headlights, he has a whole truck of them. I got this info from a return
For my return zomk speed suggested:
he said he could send me another box and see if they are OK
he also said that some people dont care and just leave the projector hanging loose...
Or I could have my money back. I CHOSE THIS ONE!!!
Moral of the story,
Don't buy any w203 clear projector style headlights from this guy for a while, untill he gets his act right and starts selling NON-BROKEN ITEMS
PS For those who have been following my headlight drama, I've decided to spend the extra money and get the damn OEM bi-xenons

Yes, oem BIX are HID. factory HIDs are 4300k. Yea I still have the sways. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. It will fit and w203. As long as your 240 isnt a 4matic then your okay. Installing the front sway on the 4matic is a PITA, thats why they arent on my car.

I have Xenons on the SL and had one blow out two months before the end of the warranty. Would have cost me $2500 to replace, hence the reason I stuck to regular lights on the C230....

the original projectors, dep, $320
Bi-xenon from a local bone yard, ALMOST new... car had 8k- $1199
After all the conversation about the depo's scattering light.. I just can't do that with my 2yr old in the back seat.. we take trips across country and I drive at night only... LOL I NEED OEM
As for the sway bars, what exactly will they do handling wise? Are they easy to install? I don't have 4matic, just w203- C240 rear wheel drive

wow you got me excited i can't wait for my bix... Funny thing, I ordered the foglights for the bix model, so I'm ready to go there.. All I need is the HID converters
Since I don't have the hid's for the fogs, maybe ill just put blue'er halogens
Wavey, that car is sweet.. I can't wait for my lights
anyone got the bix with halogens? I'd like to see a comparison

Such a great choice. Considering Steve (MBenzNL) has been running out of them, there most likely will not be very many left (considering the w204 is coming out soon).

i agree.. It does cost more, however, i dont have to worry about focus problems, meltdown of the housing, corruption in the wiring leading to my car getting damaged, siesmic vibrations loosening the housing materials, any more?

You are missing a couple of key points. Bix lamps use high intensity discharge capsules to create the light. These are called HID for short. These lamps mostly have Xenon gas inside the blub. Halogen lamps use a conventional filament with a halogen gas (usually Iodine) inside a quartz bulb.
HID capsules for cars are 4300K. There are some for studio applications that are 6000K. They do have the same base as automotive capsules, but are not approved for on road use anywhere.
Anyone who sells lamps with a higher color temperature rating is shoveling the bulls business all over your shoes. Some people put paint on the lamp to make it look blue. They then tell you it is 8000K or 10,000K, but really they have no way to measure it, and usually use counterfiet lamps made in China. Osram or GE lamps are rated 2,000 hours. The knock-off last about 200 hours.
You should know that higher color temperatures (from filtration) result in LOWER light , and you will not see as well as 4300K lamps.
In the US and Europe cars with Bix are required to have a self leveling sysem and a headlight washer system by law. If you buy a set of lamps from salvage, be sure to get the front bumper with mounted nozzles and the other washer system components, hoses, pumps, headlight switch assy from the doner car. You will want to get the sway bar sensors and hardware from the front and rear along with the wiring harness to attach them to your car for the automatic leveling system.
A lot of people just put in the housings and set xenon=present in the front SAM and it all looks good. I thought you might like to know all the work needed to do the job to OEM specs.

YOU ROCK thank you so much for all of that information.. Unfortunatly I don't think I'll be able to do much more than just install the headlights. I'll get the SAM set as well.
About the filtration, that sounds about right. I wouldn't be surprised if people sold the 12k's on ebay with a thin layer of color rather than actual more light. I don't think I'm going to change anything around, because if I have really bright lights I will get pulled over. I don't want the BS ticket just so i can see better. Whats the chances the officer will know I have the bix illegally?

The police probably do not know the safety standard, and would not waste time for a "fix-it" ticket. Those are not revenue producing for his boss. They usually only cite equipment as an add-on for speeding or red light violations.
What you do need to worry about is a serious accident where a question of lighting might be involved. The insurance company might not have enough liability to satisfy the other party and leave you exposed to a nasty lawsuit.
When C24 turns on his high beams, night turns into day NOT because of the BIX lamps. The high beams are halogen lamps in a properly designed reflector, and that is what illuminates the road ahead so brightly.
Good luck on geting your car just the way you like it! The sway bars are amazing. Makes high speed turning more comfortable.
