It's in that funny manual thing that came with your car, the one rapped in plastic most likely. It tells you how your car works.

The manual for my car does NOT state this info ......
this is how I did it thanks to dnlow:

The proper way to reset the service timer for a 2005 c230

1. have the key in the on position (not ac position)
2. get to the "A/B Service due in xxxxx miles" display
3. hold reset button for @3-4 seconds
4. the screen will ask "confirm reset press reset button for 3 seconds"
5. next message will say A/B Service due in 13000 miles

Why is everybody surprised that a member with the name of bmwm3e46 can't read a MB manual. Of course he can't find it in his darkside manual.

All I know is my 2004 tells in detail on how to reset it, and looking at your 2005 manual on page 335 it tells you to just hit the reset button to clear it yourself. I will have look this up, but I believe that cars that come to the us now have to be able to be reset by the customer and most American cars have some form of selfdignostic that the costomer can access. Yours is a little vague but it still tells the basic way to reset it. This is most likely so Mercedes will get more busines, but who knows. Its in there, I will try and find a way to do a snapshot or just print it and rescan so you can find it yourself.

The manual tells you how to "clear" it... meaning how to make it not be in the display cluster at the moment, but it does not tell you how to reset it, it simply states on page 336 to take it to a service station. If your 2004 tells you in detail, than it is different.

And this says to hold the RESET BUTTON for 3-4 seconds, sounds like its the reset button you push????

the manual says, and I quote..."press reset button on the instrument cluster" That's ALL that is said, if that's clear enough for you, than god bless, but I think most people would appreciate a more detailed list of directions, the directions provided by dnlow (that I posted above) are perfect and they leave no questions. The manual is not clear, I don't see why it's so difficult for some members to help others, I'm not directing this solely to you, this appears to be a common theme among this forum.

It is not at all difficult to help members and I have no problem doing so for new questions. I think that I have helped many members here, and will continue to do so in the future, but when a topic that has been comes up again and again I am going to say something.

The only common theme around here is the members inability to perform a simple search for a topic that has been covered many times since the W203 was introduced. A search would have turned results, I guarantee it!

I understand what your saying, I disagree though, if the question was simply answered, this thread would have been dead and the original poster happy, it just seems easier imo to do it that way than post unhelpful (and sometimes obnoxious) replies

I think the problem lies in that you purchased a 2005 not a 2004. See if you would have gotten the 2004 your manual would have had the instructions you posted and not the crappy ones yours came with. But I can see your point so next time I will buy the beers.

And I don't argue I debate so don't get all bent out of shape over it.
