Horrible whining noise when accelerating

Hello all,

I am new to the board and thought that I would seek the advise of other members before taking my C240 in. It recently started making an extreme high ptched whining noise after starting the car. The high pitch whining increases as i push down on the accelerator. It does this when I am in both drive, neutral and park. I have an automatic transmission. I was hoping someone might have some insight as what it could be. Since it makes the exact same high pitched whine when in neutral and park makes be believe that it might not be transmission related. Please help with any advice or similiar expreinces. Thank you for your help and your time.

This happened to my 06 C230 and the dealer took care of it. It was the pulley/bearing.

My car is not under warranty any more. I am taking it in for a serivce at the same time. Any idea of how much that will run me to get the idler pulley replaced whiel they do the service? Thanks for your help.

Mini Coopers aren't really BMW's, oh unless it's the 1-Series, it's not a BMW.

try spraying some wd40 on the bearings for the pulley's, that should take care of it. Also check to see if the belt is worn, or try some belt dressing like "No squeak"
