Your Headlights!

Help guys, I still don't understand what's the difference with the off and auto switch for the headlights. When it's dark, I don't notice a difference with having it off or auto.

Can anyone explain what off, auto, and on do?

Let me be the second to say RTFM. All will be answered if you turn to page 143.

I believe this feature is somewhat "country"-related. F.e. When the light switch in my car is in "0"-position the headlights are still on. I believe the "Auto"-position don't switch the headlights on when ambient light is sufficient...

For me the difference between "0" and "light-symbol" - is that I can not switch to constant high beam mode in "0"-position, neither can I turn the foglights on.

Thats the default setting for cars in Scandinavia but you can still disable this from the menu if you want. Just go through the menu and switch DRL off, now your headlights are off if the switch is in "0".

The manual states that for non-xenon headlights, the DRL's are less than full-power. For Xenons, there is no difference. I believe when the DRL's are active and the light control knob is in the "OFF" position, no other lights are on, including tail lamps and dash lights. With DRL's active, the AUTO position will turn on all lights (including full power low beam) when darkness is sensed. Personally, I don't use the DRL feature, so "OFF" is off for me.

From what I've been told, it's a common use item in Europe for parking on the streets. It's designed to be used on car side closest to traffic when parked in a dark or foggy area...and I heard it's a drunk driver avoidance feature too!

if your headlamps are on, and the lights are in the off position, then your car is set to running daylights, to turn this off goto the display section on the menu and turn off daylamps.

Buell old buddy............

maybe you should stick with just cleaning the windsheild and not mess around with the detail stuff.

I changed my headlight bulbs in LESS than 20 minutes. Absolutely nothing to it. Not sure how it could take you two hours or more LOL. Just kidding ol boy.

I took photos of the stock lights the other night. Tonight will shoot the same shot with the new ones and post it here.

No, they're definitely not the same. The DRL low beams for the halogen headlamps are only something like 75% intensity.

Can't do this for Canada though, as DRLs have been mandated by law since 1989.
