Need ballast

Hey guys, I was having fun in the rain the other night & I got water up into the engine compartment & soaked the ballast for my passenger side Bi-Xenon lights, so it's fried & won't work, I went around to a few junk yards today & asked around but no dice, anyone here have a smashed up car or front end that they'd be willing to sell me the ballast from their projector headlight? - Or any ideas on where I can get a working one cheap? - M.B. wants close to $700 bills for one new. - It's an 05' C230K S.S.

you couldnt, because you they do not make a D2S HID Kit.

ouu... I see I see.

you cant even completely remove the whole DS2 kit? all wires, etc, and put a HID kit on the projector. I mean, if they quote him for a high price, and a kit for k1 or carlab cost like 250$

Are you sure? I asked for the ballast a while ago and they quoted me $400...still $$$. Isn't car still under warranty? You didnt tell them you were having fun with the rain did you?

Yes, yes you can replace the oem ballast with a aftermarket HID ballast. It has been done.

Well we tried switching out the ballast with an aftermarket one, but the oem ballast connects to the headlight directly with a pin connector, no external wires, it just plugs in, you can put in aftermarket hids with the factory free form reflector headlights (non-bi xenon), the factory probably won't warrenty it as it's already past the warrenty, additionally the guy who had the car before me for some reason removed the inner fender plastic thingys that keep water from goin in there. I'd rather put back in a stock one & not monkey with it or try to re-engineer the thing.

for the most part, all D2S ballasts are similar, save for the small specification
differences. they're interchangeable. there isn't a special one for std HID
and a separate ballast for bixenon. doesn't even matter much if it's from an
HID kit....except they're nearly always non OEM manuf...which I recommend
you stick with (Stanley, Hella, Denso, etc...). just be sure the connectors
match what you currently have on the car, or be ready to fabricate patch.

my ballast recently burnt and i got mine from MbenzNL, stealership are rip off and quote me $679 CAD for 1 Ballast.

BTW i should've gone aftermarket ballast, IMO the mercedes HID light output is too weak, look at the BMW ones, those are real HID man.
