Wipers don't return 'home'

Anybody ever have this issue? Its a 2002 c230k coupe.

I just started randomly one day while it was raining. The wipers started pausing at the end of their stroke. It eventually turned them into stopping about 6" above where they are supposed to be. Now what is weird is that they still have full motion IE they will clean the whole windshield like normal but once they are turned off they return to that spot.

I can push them down to the normal spot but once I shut my door they jump back up. If you do it with the door closed, they are too tough to move. I got sick of it and pulled the fuse and drove around with rainX and that worked perfectly. Now with the snow I had to put the fuse back in. It still does the same thing so pulling the fuse will not simply reset.

Is there a synchronization I need to do?

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
The motor is a gearhead with an internal switch to stop the wipers in the parking position. The rotating shaft of the gearhead has a ball-jointed arm that transfers the rotary motion of the gearhead motor to the linear motion of the Left and right articulated arms. The ball-jointed arm is attached to the motor shaft with a nut. The service manual says "Do Not loosen or remove nut!"

Your nut may have loosend itself, and the ball-jointed arm is slipping on the motor shaft. Look with your eye, and try to move the wipers, if the arm is slipping under the nut, you have found the problem.

Let the motor "park" itself, then move the arms so the wipers are in the stopping position, and tighten the nut. A little loctite (blue) will hold it.
