Extended warranty in florida????
I helped an old freind negotiate to purchase an r350 at a very nice rate. he's very happy. Before he signed the paperwork he ran down the list of options and mentioned that the extended warranty from Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale would cost $ 4300.00. I told him it was too expensive and to shop it later at other dealerships. He said okay. I told him i would pick up my car there in 15 minutes as it was being serviced and i would help negotiate that extended warranty. I guess he told this to the saleslady as she told him and be ready for this statement.
FLORIDA STATE LAW requires any Mercedes sold with an extended warranty in the state HAS TO BE SOLD AT THIS PRICE and NOT ANY LOWER!!! So the wife was with him and was nagging him to get it. I know how the pressure from a female gets to you (which is why i shop for a car by myself) let alone two, so i made like mad to get down there to pick up my car. Of couse the courthouse is next door and thanks to the Anna Nicole Smith case, traffic was tied up for about 20 minutes.
I get there and he had purchased it, i was so pissed. SO my question to you my fellow board members. IS this sales lady full of it? Have you ever heard of such a tactic? Does this law exist for only Mercedes and why? MY AMG extended warranty was $2800.00. Why did they charge him so much for this.
I wish i had that lady's statement in writing, I think she is really full of it. I put a call into a freind who is a VP of the MB SOUTH FLORIDA region, i hope he can shed some light on this.
In case you don;t know Florida is really a Banana Republic, this place is full of crooks and low lifes. I mean the show "Cops" started here, Ana Nicole Smith ddropped dead down the road, OJ runs around here a free man and it costs $40 to get into a club. All the politicians are crooks etc.. etc..

im shopping around now for my ELW and ive been told by a few dealerships that there is a standard price throughout florida.
in florida, are the prices for ELW indeed set at a certain price?
