Sedan owners, and coupesters too, I have aproblem with my door seals.

It's not major, but it is annoying. The two front doors are the problem for me. On our cars, you know how the rubber seals are atached to the actual door itself, and not the frame? Well, when I attempt to close either of the two front doors, the seal rubs against the side of the rear door enough to bend it out of shape so that it gets caught in between where the metal part of the front door and the frame are supposed to meet. This all happens during the closing motion. I've re-bent the seals back into shape, but they still catch. It sometimes takes me three really good slams to shut the door. I thought it was just good MB quality, but now I know it's the seals that are getting in the way. Has anyone else had this problem? How did they fix it? I'm going to pass by MB today and make an app with the servince dept.

TIA,

David.

David, I just took a closer look at my front doors. The seals on the door itself are well within the perimeter of the opening, so I don't see how the seal would make contact with the rear door. Maybe the seal was not installed correctly in its "channel", or whatever holds it in position. Are both your front doors doing this?

BTW, there are also seals on the inner frame part of the door opening. Every car I've had has seals in both places -- around the door (that opens) and the frame opening.

On another note, when I was closing the door, I paid special attention to any "bubbling" of the panel that was reported by someone in an earlier post. I don't know what they're talking about, but my doors close with a solid "thunk" without any bending metal!

I just checked my door seals. The drivers side seal sags from the position it looks like it should be in. The passenger side looks better..and is corectly seated along the bottom of the door. Looks like another visit to the dealer.

I just went to the dealer to make an appt. I showed the service consultant. He said that maybe the door is not sitting correctly. But when it closes, there are no extra gaps anywhere. I just don't think the seal was installed correctly.

Mark, both my front doors are like this. The rear ones are OK. And I also have seals on the door and frame.

Rick, I feel your pain.

New doors seals solve the problem. Common on rear doors of 210 E-classes and front doors of 203 C-classes.

mbtech,

is this a known problem at MB? Do they have a TSB out on it? If so, could you provide me with the TSB# so I can give it to my service consultant on the day of my appt?

Thank you!
