I just got my exhaust system done on friday (haven't had a chance to post pics or reviews due to Military drills this weekend) but removing the resonator makes a little difference in noise but in power gains, rarely if not probably nothing. It does save some weight though but if you remove your exhaust for an aftermarket one that would also reduce some weight. As for the midas guy, he sucks..go to another muffler shop they will remove it with no hesitation. I'm actually going back to remove my 2 cats underneath just because it's not aggressive enough for me and my muffler guy doesn't have a problem at all about removing it, it just cost a little more and that should definetly have some performance gains on that.
After doing some research from old forums on here...i understand that each car has 4 catalytic converters, and many peolpe delte/take out two of the 4.
I know a couple people that have done this to their mercedes. Sounds Beautiful. . .But all their cars are 8 cylinders... CL55, E 430, and a E 55. . .
Sounds Sickkkkkkk....I was wondering if any1 has done this to a 6 cylinder c class or a 6 cylinder mercedes. .
I also understand that You can get the cats replaced with somethging sportier sounding. .
I deleted the secondary cats on my 6 cylinder. It added some more grunt to the exhaust note, but it still isn't that loud. If I could do it again, I'd remove the secondary cats but leave the resonator in.
