What are the opinions here on ebay projector headlights with HID kits? I really like the look of a 'bi-xenon' headlight, but I don't want the crappy light output that comes with it.

they are pretty good, but not as good as bi-xenons

if your budget is tight, go for it, no one can tell the difference from the outside

Yeah, I'm broke on money and saving up for the OEM bi-xenons is reallllyyy unrealistic...so I think I might go with projector + HIDs.

Nice idea, but I don't want the black headlights.
Thanks for the link, though.

I picked up a set of OEM frosty Xenons (not BIX) in great condition for $250 on this board. If you wanted good quality OEM Xenons without taking a big chunk out of your wallet, I recommend going this route.

Thanks for the new link, definitely something worth considering. I need to get the money for it first, though.

I read a really good article on Xenon's last night.
It was saying that yes, the projector style are better.
ESPECIALLY if you are going to something like 8000K.
The point they made was the higher Kelvin lights,
without being focused will tend to glare. It's the nature of the light itself.
Without the projector style lighting, they stated that the lower Kelvin areas
4500-6000 will give the most usable light, and not blind oncoming drivers.
Shoot, too bad I didn't save the link.
Oh wait, I found it!

http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html#hid

I just bought ordered some cheap lights from ebay for $120, no Xenon setting required. Warrantied for a year...we'll see how they work out.
I was going to go for the 5000K but then read in their feedback that their lights tended to run on the lower end of the scale.
One guy had bought 10000K, and was expecting them to be purple.
Who would want purple lights?

Another hing I noticed, was various group buys over the years on different sites, here, mbklasse, bmw sites, all the links to the people selling them were dead, and people were paying a lot more for supposedly
"quality" stuff.
I did see one site that sold the Philips kits for about 350.
I may learn a lesson from the cheap kit and eventually go to something like that.
I wonder if I can list that site? Hmmm.....
sponsors and all....
