Any way to hotwire a c230k ( start it without a key??? )
ok, I am wondering if there is a way someone can hotwire my 2002 C230K.
Or clone the key, or whatever to get it operational ( to drive away) without the actual key...
I am very curious, as I rmember asking some people 2 yrs ago, and they said NO, I am wondering if technology has come to par with it yet?

I don't believe there is a way to "hotwire" the car as it needs the key to communicate with the computer to unlock the ignition.
As far as someone wanting your car, easiest solution is to tow it away. Get a truck, slap some towing company name on it and no one really pays attention. When was the last time you questioned someone towing a car? Tow sensor? I've seen some MBs, BMWs, Audis, etc with tilt sensors setting off the alarm but no one cares. They figure its a towing company towing the car due to illegal parking or something like that.

no, I own one...
for almost 3yrs...
and the reason I ask is b/c of insurance extras..
they ALWAYS try to upsell me!!
if there is NO WAY to start my car to steal it, there are some lesser options I am going to take with my insurance now...
Another reason I ask is b/c I wanted an aftermarket REMOTE Start, and that is what they told me at the place I was looking into it. If the car CANNOT be started without a key, no remote start, unless they had the codes or something to do it, which they don't for 2002 c230K MB.
But, aside from all that... Yes, I am interested, for my own personal knowledge ( just a curious bug I got ) if it was doable....
btw: I thought of the towing option too..
Shock sensors, I do not think my c230k 2002 model came with a factory alarm/shock sensors... Yeah, as far as i know, I can kick it as hard as I want ( not that I have, but I have fallen towards it before ) and nothing has gone off...
so technically, yeah, anyone can flatbed it, and drive it off on the tow.

2003 C230K Coupe Orion Blue
My sales rep gave me the exact same information when I was buying the car So it's not anything special. Towing is the sure-fire way to steal ANY car. I can't imagine it being too hard to hotwire it, though it would definitely require some serious rewiring, and wouldn't be a 30s job. Then you also have to get rid of the steering wheel lock.

Hotwiring the car would be extremely difficult. If they don't want to tow your car, a thief comes by and looks at your VIN, then goes to a dealer an orders a key using fake credentials.

You can hotwire anything. The ignition runs off a computer. Make the computer think there is a key in it. The computer was programmed by someone. Wich means you can deprogram it, and reprogram it who you would like.
I got you started in the right direction, now you finish up the job and let me know how it comes out

haha.. I wish it was that easy....
I am sure a real pro knows how to, but I doubt the amatuers know yet.
and since my model is pretty low, prof. don't really want it, and amatuers just dunno how...
so it all should be good...
