tranny fluid change....$400??
hey guys..i was at the dealer and they told me i'm past due for a tranny fluid change (i have 90k KM on the car) i've searched the forum and apparantley we (w203 owners) can't change our own tranny fluid cause the torque converter doesn't have a drain plug???
how can i do this myself? the dealer wants 400 bucks to change the tranny fluid..please help

It's not that hard to do and you can DIY as c24owner shows. The costs to do it yourself are not as cheap as you think, maybe $150 for all the stuff you need. Use MB fluid, not junk from the corner auto supply. Frankly, it's too messy for me and getting under the tranny freaks me out with my $10 jack stands so I let the pro's do it, $180 at a good independent. My dealer charges about $230. BTW, MB does not recommend changing tranny oil but it's a good idea to do it every 50K miles or so. On my kids SLK with 90K+ miles it looked pretty bad, sludge buildup, dark brown color, I'm glad we did it.
$19.95 is a great deal, I pay $30 for my Chevy but the newer MB cars require expensive synthetic, even doing it yourself costs almost $50 for the correct oil and filter.

This is one of those things - unfortunately - that cannot be done correctly at home.

Thay DIY is totally retarded. If you don't get ALL of the old, contaminated fluid out of the torque converter you have just wasted a lot of time and money. Rougly half of the old fluid remains there unless it is power flushed - hence the $280.00 dealer job I just had done...

yeah i think mine is too, i get a strong jerk between shifts and i feel a constant rough grind coming from the drive train..not realy metal on metal just as if the road is really bad and i'm rolling on 19"s...(i got the stock 16")

There are plenty of threads addressing this issue. There are ways of getting the fluid out of the torque convertor. Even if you can't, you can dilute down the old fluid. The important thing I wanted to accomplish when I did my tranny flush was changing out the filter, and cleaning the magnet.
It is better done with my hands than with someone elses.
