Whats the Oil filter look like?
I was curious what the Oil filter looks like? I ordered a filter from online and it seems like a long skinny tube looking thing. I expected the filter to look like the traditional filter round thingy. The box it came in says "Element" whats that?

sounds like you have the filter for M271 engine. Calm down, paper element is what they call it because that's all you are replacing when you change it. You not replacing the whole filter housing but just the paper element inside.

Yes, the 4 cyl Kompressor. Look just behind the air filter box, up against the firewall, you'll see a black, 1/2 sphere housing with a hex nut top on it. It is sitting on top of the machined finish housing. I'm sure there is an official name for it, but the black top and silver make up the "housing." The paper element is inside of that. Take a 25 or 24 mm, can't remember right now, wrench and unscrew the top. Take it out and the paper element is slipped over the bottom part of it....pull off old element, place on new one, replace rings, and put it in back in. Simple as that. Do a search on here....someone has a DIY w/ pics.
