Thanks for the great advice!
Hey, that reminds me, I'll need some KY when the SA delivers the good news.

same problem in my clk. any updates?

Is there an actual actuator that can be replaced or is it the door lock?

Part number would help if it's an actuator.

Yes, it is a door lock actuator that causes this issue. It is a one piece assembly (door lock and actuator in one unit). If you go to buy the part, just tell them what you want they know the part. This is a wear type item.

There are threads around here that have DIY info.

2003 c230
I just did this repair on my 2003 cl230 instead of drilling any rivets i decided to take out the back door speaker located directly below the door lock. I then proceeded to use tin snips and enlarge the speaker hole in just one location staying clear of any mounting points or large braces. I also used pliers to bend the metal to enlarge the area i cut further which saved me from removing any more material. I was then able to slide the actuator out of this spot. The orientation that I found the best was to turn the actuator upside down so the door lock pin was on the bottom left coming out the speaker hole.

I then just bent any metal back flat.

I hope this helps it was surely easier then drilling rivets and messing with an airbag.
