Question six speed c class

took my 01 c240 to a reputable benzo shop in atlanta for service and several of the seasoned mechanics said they'd never seen a manual c class before. I shrugged it off. Since then I've heard it several times again. What the big deal? I would think a manual transmission in this model would'nt be such a big deal. Are they really that rare in the U.S.?

I've had 5 MBs personally, one was an automatic so I presumed those were rare. I know I get them as loaners but don't understand why someone would drive an MB slush box, most annoying auto tranny I've driven.

+1 can't stand the 7spd auto tranny in a c230. So glad to get my car back after driving those loaners.

I have never understood the idea of buying a sports car of any kind and getting an automatic. Aside from an SUV or truck that I would use for towing/hauling- I will always own a stick.

P.S.
My '06 C230 is an manual also. It took a while to find one. I guess most yuppies don't like to shift their own gears
