To much oil?
I gave myself a oil change and I put 1/2 quart to much. The sensor is saying I put to much. My car is showing me a mulfunction sign that blinks red. My question is, does the car have any saftey features that will occur before something serious happends. e.i. WHen i floor my car, when it is about to switch gears into 3rd the car feels as if it hit the rev limiter or something. any ideas?

Yes, the red indicator signifies danger. The safety mechanism is the ignition key permits changing the engine mode to off, to prevent damage until the improper service is repaired.
FYI, when the oil sump is overfilled, the crankshaft can / will aerate the oil, turning it into foam. The oil foam will NOT lubricate the engine. The engine will be damaged from being starved for oil.

Use a hand pump/Brake bleeder with some airline tubing to pump out the excess, no biggie. Or, GASP, get under your car, and do it from the drain plug.
Easy stuff here. WHY in the hell are your flooring it with too much oil in it?

Wingless is right. Having too much oil is just as bad as not enough oil.

I syfed (sp) the oil earlier SO its a done deal. I took .5 quart out. I am having a problem with my car. If i floor my car 1,2 gear they change fine but whEn it comes to my 3rd gear the car screws up, it feels as if I am hiting a rev limitor. What is the problem? TRANNY?

Too much oil causes oil to be forced past several seals.....sometimes it takes them out. It usually causes the car to smoke a lot as well. I have two friends who had the dealer put too much oil in and no warning was posted but it did smoke a lot! If they don't evacuate all the oil (by not bottoming the removal tube) it gets an overfill. The way it was explained to me is the filling is done by a push of a button that selects the right quantity for the engine type assuming all is gone.

Drain it out!
Now! Don't drive it till you do.
Use a drill powered pump to do it easy.

Limp home limits you to second gear. You posted..."when it is about to switch gears into 3rd the car feels as if it hit the rev limiter". The symptom "but then if i push the gas slowly it will change gears no problem into 4th" sounds like low on fluid or valve actuating problem.

Valves in the transmission activate gear changes. Many/most of the C transmissions suffer from a leaky plug that allows fluid to leak out, with some of it traveling up a wiring harness to the TCU. Search for transmission problems. You need a special tool to check the trans fluid.
