hee.

"leatherrette is easy to keep clean"

funny.

I've owned leather on my cars for 17 years now. NEVER had a stain to clean. It always wiped off.

And umm.. don't you have enough plastics offgassing onto your windshield already without adding MORE plastic to the interior?

Leather needs to be regularly cleaned and conditioned particularly if you have a light coloured leather. Wiping off stains isn't the issue. Regular maintenance is the issue.

My leather always looks clean but if you wipe a clean cloth over it with a good leather cleaner, alot of black crap still appears on the cloth.

Knock on wood I've had no problems w/ reliability in my car...but mine is also much younger, and built in April. I think a lot of the people who are having problems have some of the very early production model...just a thought.

reliablity problems

I agree. got my '02 c230 end of june '02, car born in end of march. only problem was the known gas pump issue. dealer replaced and know of the problem. other than that no issues/noises/computer messages or anything else (knock on wood). No mods either but new ebrake pedal cover for C7 match. would like the hatch button release fob but not sure if its real. have 4500k and will wait for the 10k visit to dealer to ask about the fob. came from a honda crx so it's a big step up. might a sway bar mod to get a stiff/tighter ride.

The problem is when I told the dealer about the hatch release button they showed me the manual booklet and pointed out its not even stated there so its hard to argue with that.

Several people on the forum have it. Do a search for remote trunk release or hatch release. And besides that, I've had my hands on one at my dealership. Believe me, there is one.

Next time you open your boot take a closer listen to the release...its not mechanical, its an electronic release triggered by pulling the hatch release lever. So the mechanism is there for the remote key to work.

I believe the hatch release button it's real, just can't get the dealer or MBUSA to believe me. A part number would help, if anyone has one . . .
