It didn't look frayed at all.

Anyone know if this is okay, as long as it doesn't wear anymore?

Maybe I should get this new ASP pulley instead.
I would send the pulley back to KLEEMANN and tell them to make it smaller. Several hundredth of inches tolerance variations in the assembly of engine accessories on the outside is normal for my acceptance level. So a tight pulley that does not rub on one engine might rub on another engine.

I will trade the <1hp reduction in gain for a bigger pulley clearance.

So you think I should return it and have them redo it or just get a new ASP? I'm all for the cheaper price, although I was happy with all the information I got from the guy from Kleemann before deciding to buy it. This was before I found this forum.

I did get them to give me a parts warranty even though I installed it myself since I had it done with help of an MB tech.

Or maybe I can just get a thinner belt? What do you think?

I was told by Lee that it only rubbed if the belt was a little thick. So both pullys work fine, it just depends on th belt. I was told that the new spec pully will work with any belt.

i am waiting for hte new spec pully. He told me that it wont be all black. Part alum and part black

Guys,

This is all Buellwinkle fault !!! He wanted a pulley that is bigger then any other pulley out there and so that's what happen why the belt rubbed. I talk to Lee at ASP about this three days ago concerned of the problem. So he's going to make the C coupe pulley a little smaller. But the 98-99 pulley will not have this problem because the factory pulley is already a little smaller then the C coupe factory pulley.

Maybe it's because the belt I have is the heavy duty version, so I guess if you get the regular duty one it won't rub. Just a guess though.

Yes, Linh it's all my fault, I admit it, greed for power got the best of me although it doesn't rub on my car.

Return the pulley to ASP, some where made where the hub surface was not polished perfectly and that caused a small leak, Lee promised to quality check each one personally because of this. They will replace it with the newly design stainless steel hub and you'll be better off anyway.

BTW, 8,000 miles and it never leaked 1 drop of oil and I've had it on and off a few times.

I've never heard of a pulley damaging the seal, if you put the factory pulley back on it will stop leaking. The small amount of oil is not a problem, just keep an eye on it until you are ready to take it off and send it back in.

My early ASP has always leaked a drop or two. I can live with it vs. labor $ to R&R for an automatic, and whinning tio Lee. Power is intoxicating. Just had the dealer install the rear AMG bar. Thank you to the forum! Turn in is much improved, have yet to bansai a cloverleaf...it's snowy. Yoko AVS's are a riot in the snow, like slicks on olive oil. I should pony up for snows, but I'm having too much fun going sideways.

Hobie, I had the rear AMG for a while and it's great but when I did the front (same price as rear) it improved it that much more.

Are you saying that ASP has already implemented the new all steel hub design to the future pullies?? I have the alloy pulley laying around in the garage...
