LOL I was trying to comprehend the manual today...they write it in such a confusing way. I just turned the vents to 64 and full blast, and it was pretty cold. Is that the ac? Do I even touch the AC button?? From what I read in the manual and what advans has said, the red light is no good. Is that right? Can someone try to clear me up?

EC stays on is a safety feature....keeps compressor off so it' s not damaged.
Not familiar with 203....any chance you have similar onboard diagnostics as we
do with W210s?
read this first....

Hey Avans, thanks for posting on my thread.
I read yours and I'm interested in finding out what the dealer finds about the AC problem we're both having...
Have you taken it in yet?
I don't really have a problem with any of the indicator lights that people are talking about.
I have automatic climate control (maybe they all have them) so the AC turns on automatically... I believe I'm able to turn off the AC by pushing the button to the right.
The only thing that happened to me is, I had a high pitched wistle whenever the air is on (hot or cold, louder when cold) and then the AC stopped working.
BTW, I have a 2002 C240... and moved to TX 2 months ago...
It be HOT....

Brought my car in for service today after looking at this thread.
The stealership detected low refrigerant. They "evacuated and recharged A/C" with FREON 10th.
They charged me $133.20. Do you guys think I was raped

I'll update you, I bought the car in for service yesterday, the SA called me today and said they are still working on it,
but if you check the recall list, AC OFF CONSTANTLY LIT is a recall!
will scan my service sheet once i get the car back! hopefully tomorrow, I miss it already!

Are there codes for a 95 C280 a/c unit? My blows cold air for a minute or two after starting the car, then blows hot air and squeels a high pitched sound. I was told it could be a temp or pressure sensor. Help!

hey.
the fault was AC compressor. it jammed the code in the climatronic thing. and they measured the boost. it had about 30, they pumped it up to 40boost and replaced the AC compressor.

AC Recharging
I see a lot of people here speaking of relatively frequent AC recharges. Just an fyi, but you should rarely, if ever, need to recharge a properly sealed and functioning AC system. If you do, it means you have a leak somewhere. You can continue to recharge it, but it will only get worse until you fix it as most of the system is under some degree of high pressure.
I am surprised that shops or dealers would even recharge it. Most shops, when they see cars as relatively new as these, will try to find the leak before recharging.
Just don't want to see people pissing money away on refrigerant that will soon leak out due to a fault in the system.
