Help with cd changer problem

Hello, I am new to this forumn.
I have just bought a 2002 C230 coupe last month.
But today, when I was driving and listening to my cd, the headunit suddenly change to radio.
and when i try to pree to play cd, it shows that "no cd change".
so when i got home, i try to eject the 6 disc changer, it can reject with no problem, then i plug it back it, it has some loading disc sound.
so i press the cd button again, it still shows "no cd changer".
so what's the problem with it.
because my car don't have any warrenty, so i don't want to spend a lot of money to repair it.
do you guys have any idea how can i fix it?
thanks for the help.
also, when i got my car, there is one A/c temperatuer switch missing, i had a really hard time to find one, do you guys know anywhere i can get it?

I've had those problems with my CD changer.
I never figured out what the problem is.
Haven't taken the time.

It would do that and then come back to working.
Intermittant.
Eventually it just quit reading the CD's.

So I just recently bought another changer, and it too does not read the CD's.
The member who sold it says it worked when he uninstalled so it has to be one of 3 things if it's not the changer.
a. the optical cable is kinked or something. So I'm gonna pull the dash apart,
and replace that. If that doesn't work than
b. I'll check the Audio 10 HU, and put my original tape deck in and see if that works, actually likely do that first... If THAT doesn't work,
c. Go to my local guy here in town, around closing time with 6 pack and see if
he'll connect the SD unit and see whats up...
If it costs more than 50 bucks to do that, I'm baggin' it.

As far as just finding that knob, if the dealer doesn't have it as a separate part, check the classifieds here for the whole assembly.
Some people replaced their's with the digital one, so the original ones can be had for 50 bucks or so.
You could get the "climatronic" but thats at least $250 and to me, I think it's a pain. I like the basic analog controls, so easy a caveman could do it.
