203 guy's..... let's compare notes.

I have a silver 208 right now (430) and I dig the solid feel and torque. I am incredibly drawn to the silver 203 and silver 209 and it's becoming pretty hard to resist. This members car is pretty much exactly what I would buy if I were to buy one. (minus the hood ornament)

Currently this is my 208: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class-w208/195409-couple-pics-today-my-lady-s-car-tow.html

What I want to know is how solid the 203 is on the road. How's the noise? Does the car feel very light or solid and secure? Is it as slow as I think it is in stock form?

the w203 weights around the same as the 208. you'll need to go test drive one yourself to see how you like it. C230k, C230, C240, C280, C320, and C350 or even the C32 and C55. They all perform different and delivers the power differently.

the car's very stable and solid. if you don't want to be slow then you can skip the first 3 i listed.

Yeah, Long Mercedes would love to see me pull back in this week after dropping $30k on that Jag last week for the lady.

I think I'll stop by there since the cars are similar weight.

if you are going to drag race you are barking up the wrong tree...but I have found that from 60MPH-100/110MPH there is consistent acceleration and power....could be the 7 speed transmission of just the unique power band for the engine in terms of RPM to HP at that speed...very pleasing though on the HWY to have the acceleration when you want/need it.

But all in all, they're all slow! Even the C55! (wait - let me explain)... This weekend I was exposed to what the word "Fast" means. And no longer will I ever say my car is fast.

Drove a white C230 Sport Kompressor today and was approved for it. Decided to think on it for a night.

Any opinions? The supercharger seemed to help it's performance a good bit.

You won't feel the same torque as your 430. It's peppy, but also very expensive to get some power out of it (and the power is still lacking compared to other models). Look into some of the 350's if you can afford it or the 320's. Both have potential for good power gains.

Well, we bought a Jag from this dealer 2 weeks ago (3.0L) and I have my CLK (4.3L) so I was hoping to find something to drive that would be a little better on gas this summer if the price goes to the projected $4+ per gallon.

I thought maybe buying a supercharged 4 banger would give me a little grunt and still get decent mileage. I mean I can always get back in the 430 if I feel the need to go roast'em

Oh, so it's a secondary car and you're keeping the 430? Or do you mean you can always buy another 430 later on?

Either way, if you're looking for a combination of good gas mileage and decent speed, it'll be a great choice.

Yeah I am keeping the 430, the Jag, and my Lexus. Trading in my BMW.

I'll be picking this one up for $24k from my local mercedes dealer if I decide to do so.

I am currently also looking at getting a C230, mainly the 2005 model in silver and with a 6 speed transmission (hard to find!). Keep in mind I will be selling my daily driver within a month or so, an 01 Corvette Z06, for this. So that tells you I was actually pretty impressed with my boss's 05 C230 that I test drove a few weeks ago. It's got decent pep, and handling, steering feel and response was very good. I like the fact that it's curb weight isn't too heavy at around 3250lbs for a 4-door rear wheel drive sedan, making it tossable, but also will get good MPG with a slippery .27cd aerodynamic rating. As for looks, I think the C230's, especially those with the AMG bodykit looks very sweet! No, it doesn't run 0-60mph in 4 seconds nor pulls 1.0+ g's like my Z06 does, but I am not racing around everyday everywhere either. I just want a nice daily driver and the C230 fits my bill for price, looks, class, handling, and also fuel efficiency with a little pep.

I would difinitely pick it up. Great gas mileage and far from the slowest car on the road. I was in the same boat as you, with gas prices expected to hit $4/gal we were looking for a third car which had good gas mileage and that's when my wife and I picked up an 03 c230k ss. No regrets here; fun little car with some pep in it's step.
