Rain in June? Actually thats your REAR window not the windshield.

My windshield (front) was smashed by some punks in Santa Cruz outside
the Coconut grove while I was there for a show about 6 months after I bought the car.
The insurance company tried to make me go to some glass butcher shop, and force me to use non mercedes glass. F that.
German cars use quality glass. I had to pay 120 of the ~500 it cost, which isn't too bad, but I went to the dealer and got MBZ glass.

Damn that is F---ed up

It is just some jealous a-hole. Glad to see your sunshade was up, as that rock would have done some damage to the interior.

That is crazy, damn drunk HS kids ?!?!, it seems to me that you have a foe out and about. Not to mention the fact that they purposely threw it exactly onto your window, and not your trunk lid. Drunk kids would not have thought twice about saving your trunk lid from that BIG *** rock. Looks like you should keep an eye open.

Sorry that shyt happen.

it's an East Coast thing.... here in Cali, that's just crazy talk.
Rainy season from May to October..... then comes the snow and salt on the road !

Why would anyone want to live on the East Coast ???

Please make sure that the dealer includes pricing to:

1) Replace the rear sunshade
2) Replace the rear deck as I'm sure that it is scratched all to hell.
3) Remove the rear seat cushion and back to remove all glass.

The last one is major as any piece of glass left in any grove of stiching will vibrate over time and could cut loose the stitching of the seat leaving you with a upholstery problem later.

I'm sure that the dealer will even want to remove the front seats to clean all glass out of the car.

Glass fragments in the tracks to our seats are also not a good thing, and it only takes one little piece to screw something up.

When I had my 2002 coupe the passenger window got blown out from a battery thrown by a lawn mower. The dealer insisted on removing both front seats to make sure that any glass was caught and removed. I was lucky too as the battery didn't hit the paint or car body.

The cost of the glass is only going to be part of this repair bill.

This sucks! I'd kill'em if I ever found out who did it.

LOL
yeah actually. Sales are falling steadily, so prices are going down too.
There's tons of new construction, sitting idle. People can actually haggle on new construction, that's how over-inventoried the region is right now.

thanks for the comments guys. I don't know who would have done this, I don't have any enemies, no pissed off exes (that I kno of haha).
first estimate from benz dealership is $1241, they didn't break down what that includes or anything. that sounds way out of the ballpark to me, I was thinking around $500 at the most but I don't know what they had planned.
on a side note, I asked how much service A would be and they said $340. from what I can tell it's just a glorified oil and filter change, why shouldn't I have a local mechanic do this?

This has been discussed.
Ask for an oil change, it's cheaper. And ask them to make recommendations, but not to do anything without asking you. Then you can do the other stuff yourself.

You insurance should cover most of the damage at those prices.
Get the biggest estimate you can.

Last summer we had CDs stolen out of my mom's car, and the next week the alarm on the ML went off. I can only assume because the punks tried really hard to get the car open somehow. There was no damage, and the alarm scared them off.

So I'm surprised that the rear window BREAKING open didn't do anything...

I am extremely surprised that the alarm did not go off with a huge boulder going through a window.

I guess I'm glad I also have the MB Interior Motion Sensor (IMS).
But regardless, what does it take for the alarm to go off ? A bulldozer flipping it on it's side ???

As far as I know the alarm only goes off if the door is unlocked and opened without using the remote. That's the only way I can make it go off. It's nearly useless. A bulldozer flipping it on it's side juuuuuuuust might make the alarm get suspicious. Just a little bit. But probably wouldn't go off.

My alarm goes off if I try to jack up the car. Found that out by accident.
