There aren't any muffler replacements that have proven any gains. Muffler replacement is purely for the changed in exhaust note/sound. As for removing the resonator and adding different tips, it would carry a "similar" effect, however, when you remove the resonator it eventually develops a droaning sound that is more apparent in the cabin than if you just replace the muffler. I've noticed with many 230K's that remove the resonator, it also becomes a little more raspy sounding, which I personally don't care for.

There are some companies that offer full cat-back systems. The thing is, the piping on the 2003-2005 m271 230kss is already quite large for OEM piping. So the piping was designed for a forced induction engine. Any upgrade from the stock piping, may possible cause hp loss. In this case, bigger piping is not necessarily "better".

Well... It seems that I have a disease... After getting my car 3 days ago. I wanna drop money into it.

Remus - I'm lazy, and wanted to know what (generally) shipping would cost to Washington State

Thanks,
Alex
