Dumb question about CD changer install

OK. I installed the correct (used) CD changer in my C320 without incident. However, the display still says "NO CHANGER" and the CD cassette will not eject when I push the (only) button. (BTW, there is power and the light in the button flashes.)

The first was not a BIG surprise as I had been warned that this sometimes happens and requires MB reprogramming.

The second suggests that this is a defective changer unless I am missing something very obvious. Just push button to eject, no?

Did you use the correct fiber optic cable? The cables are different for a Bose versus a non Bose unit.

Yes, it was the Bose-compatible cable according to the package it came in. Besides, the rest of the audio system still works as it did before which suggests to me that the hook-up is correct.

OTOH, that should not affect the eject button, should it?

When I installed a used CD changer initially I used a “bad” cable (for Bose units) and I got the same message “NO CHANGER" but I was able to eject/insert the Cd cartridge. After getting the Non Bode cable everything was fine, did not have reprogram anything. Hope it helps.

That's what I was afraid to hear (that the Eject worked anyway). I bought the CD changer used and the seller has offered an exchange. More work.
