Anyways, are you sure the bulb you used for replacement was working also? Actually, are you sure you used the correct bulb number?

obvious but did you replace with correct bulb...ensure that the spring contacts
were raised....that the terminating plug was replaced properly....try swapping
out bulb from the other side (to see if that worked) ??

So there is nothing wrong with your tails.
Yes, the sockets are there, but you only have a fog light in the driver side tail. I guess, its so drivers behind you don't think you riding your brakes.....

P.S. The bulb in the passenger side serves as a spare as well.

My first guess would be that you don't have the plug shoved all the way onto the tail light assembly. Do you get a bulb warning error, and if so, what is the error you get?
