Leaking coolant Lines and a problem Autotrans
My automotive experience is mostly bimmer related, so please forgive any benz-ignorance on my part.
My girlfriend's 2003 C320 coupe has developed a grinding, rumbling sound that sounds as if it is coming from the differential. I sat in the back and it felt like it was under or behind the rear seat.
Throughout the grinding noise, the car hesitates until it either goes away at higher rpms, or you take your foot off the gas. The dealer just told me that the problem is the torque converter (the coolant leaking issue) and that the rad and tc need replacement.
I have searched and found that this is a really common problem, but the car doesn't feel like it has any shifting problems.
Does the trans/coolant problem ever make the sound, feeling, etc., feel as if it is coming from the differential?
The car is newly out of warranty and I don't want us to get rooked.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
-ntv
