Battery and jump starting....
Battery finally gave up after 6 years. Roadside assistance had it replaced in an hour fifteen minutes from the time I called for $171. Mechanic had excellent people skills and did her job well. She said there were multiple instances of other electric/electronic failures after people used their C to jump start other cars while the engine was running and advised against doing it. OK to jump start C or use battery in parallel but not with engine running. Haven't heard that one before. I used my C to jump start a car a couple years ago with no ill affect but why take the chance?

Hahahaha, geez guys
Never heard of that. Jumpstarted 2 cars (well, same dumbass friend, 2 different cars of his) with my W203, that must be why my cupholder's broken twice. Even though it's totally possible I can't see why you'd ever jumpstart someone's car without the engine running.

I've heard of people getting errors before from disconnecting their battery cables. The error codes and how to fix them are in the DIY section I believe. But I've never heard of someone getting errors after using THEIR C to jump someone else. I've jumped 2 people and have had no problems what so ever.

When I bought both of my C's,
I was specifically told by my SA and MB Tech
NOT to jump start other people's cars with my Benzies....
His explanation was something too technical for me to remember, but he got the message across, as I munched on my free dealership donuts & coffee !

Like I said, I didn't have a problem the one time I did it as well. The reason is the same one that blows the rear sam sometimes when you disonnect the positive terminal first I would call these design flaws. Unfortunately teutonic engineering doesn't take into account normal practice. I'm guessing MB doesn't think it's necessary to plan for something that shouldn't happen to begin with if instructions are followed.
