Yeah, what I meant by recall is that the dealer must fix it at no charge, no questions asked. It wasn't handed down by the DOT, but its basically the same thing.

I drove a mates older MB the other day...auto tranny. It has this button under the accelerator so when you press the pedal all the way to the floor it hits the button and the gear shifts all the way down.

I don't mean to get on your case about this but, for those just tuning in: There is a BIG difference between a recall and a TSB/ campaign.

I don't blame them. It's the popular opinion that the terms are interchangable.

Naw, it's not new. I think all 2001 an up auto trannies have it. If you think that's cool, try driving a C32 where the engine downshifts in hard braking and hold the low gear when accelerating through a sharp curve.

Ok, here's how there is NO difference.

1. The part is fixed or replaced

TRUE

2. It costs you nothing

TRUE

3. They must do it even if you car is out of waranty

TRUE

I could care less what they call it, if its a problems and they are calling you to come and have it fixed its bascially a recall. They found a problem and they are fixing it. The ONLY difference is that they were not FORCED by the government to do it.

I don't think it's smugness. It happens when another person posts something that makes it sound like they know it as a fact rather than a question. He said "03's have this feature". Didn't say he found this feature and wonders if older models have it too.

R4NDOM_AX3:
The "Rest" feature was deleted for '03 C230's and C240's. The button is now marked "AC OFF" instead of "ECON" and "REST". #1, they deleted REST, #2 I think they relabeled it to end confusion about what "ECON" means. Either way, it simply disengages the A/C compressor.

2002 C230K, Auto, etc.
Tranny

As a new owner of a C230K I've found this forum to be very useful and with few exceptions no one as come off to me as rude or a snob.

I think what your getting is a natural response when it's obvisous your have not RTFM. Most anything you want to know can be found there.

What you'll find here on the forum is how aftermarket products work with your car. Kinds of problems and how to fix them...yourself or through your dealer.

Look around and check them out and you will find answers to many mysteries you have.....But there is still no excuse for not reading the manuel...there is some great reading there about one fine automobile...

Enjoy the ride

C230 K
but seriously folks

did you know you can download your C230 manual in PDF format from the owners section of the MBUSA website? it's about 27 MB, but most of the time when i think of a question about my car, I'M NOT IN MY CAR (where the manual is)! Very handy.

C230 Tunnel mode

When I try to use the Tunnel mode in my C230 the sunroof will not close (only the side windows). Does this work for anyone else?

This makes the feature quite useless.

once again, we all wish we had one-touch close on the coupe. this feature (with the sunroof) works on the sedan.

I don't get how it's useless.

I put my sunglasses in there every day; I think it's a great feature, and much better engineering than the cupholder.

Don't you dare say a single bad thing about the magnificent cup-holder! I chased that cup-holder for almost a year, before I was able to catch it!:p

I too use the sunglasses holder all the time. I think it works great.

Is this cup holder everyone raves on about the one that is in the liitle compartment where the cig lighter is? Or is it something different? If its anything other than that then I've been robbed!

That's it! But it's not standard in Euro-spec cars.

Well in that case, I must admit that is one of the highlights of the car! German engineering...you gotta luv it!
