Yeah, what I meant by recall is that the dealer must fix it at no charge, no questions asked. It wasn't handed down by the DOT, but its basically the same thing.

I drove a mates older MB the other day...auto tranny. It has this button under the accelerator so when you press the pedal all the way to the floor it hits the button and the gear shifts all the way down.

I could care less what they call it, if its a problems and they are calling you to come and have it fixed its bascially a recall. They found a problem and they are fixing it. The ONLY difference is that they were not FORCED by the government to do it.

R4NDOM_AX3:
The "Rest" feature was deleted for '03 C230's and C240's. The button is now marked "AC OFF" instead of "ECON" and "REST". #1, they deleted REST, #2 I think they relabeled it to end confusion about what "ECON" means. Either way, it simply disengages the A/C compressor.

2002 C230K, Auto, etc.
Tranny
As a new owner of a C230K I've found this forum to be very useful and with few exceptions no one as come off to me as rude or a snob.
I think what your getting is a natural response when it's obvisous your have not RTFM. Most anything you want to know can be found there.
What you'll find here on the forum is how aftermarket products work with your car. Kinds of problems and how to fix them...yourself or through your dealer.
Look around and check them out and you will find answers to many mysteries you have.....But there is still no excuse for not reading the manuel...there is some great reading there about one fine automobile...
Enjoy the ride

but seriously folks
did you know you can download your C230 manual in PDF format from the owners section of the MBUSA website? it's about 27 MB, but most of the time when i think of a question about my car, I'M NOT IN MY CAR (where the manual is)! Very handy.

This makes the feature quite useless.

Out Of Control!!
I don't get how it's useless. ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I put my sunglasses in there every day; I think it's a great feature, and much better engineering than the cupholder.
