Now that is something that I can say I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. LOL, thats really nice. Being a tv-aholic I would like that very much. Is it possible to do that here in the states? I know they have tv screens you can put in your car but I'd rather not look like part of P-Diddley's entourage.

Nav TV
This is just one supplier I pulled up with a quick Yahoo search.
I beleive there are others.
Have seen this done with a Lexus nav system too.

To be able to see TV on euro Command, you need a separate TV tuner...it will switch of the screen and keep the sound once the car starts moving.
To disable the switching off of the TV during driving, the Command itself needs to be upgraded in order to filter out the speed pulses out of the TV function. Speedpulses are passed by CANBUS in the newer models.
greetingz,

It always seem the the Euro spec and Japanese spec cars always have more and sometimes higher tech options. It would be nice to get some here in the states. It seems funny that people are more concerned about cupholders in their cars than upgraded tech stuff. I guess we Americans are more concerned about where to put our caffe latte from Starbucks, than with having Command or nav or tv/screens. Oh well...maybe one day we will also get some of the nice toys offered abroad.

Yes and No. There are some options that you can always buy and install here - e.g. Audio 10, Euro spec side mirrors. But there are different motor options that we cant get here. I think that is where the biggest difference is. Also, there are some car models not imported here in the states due to regulations - safety and emissions rules.

I vacationed on a remote European island in the middle of the atlantic ocean. The electronics stores were selling stuff there that we probably won't see here for a few more years.

I called the Nav-TV guys up, And they told me that it will cost me roughly $3,500 to $4,000. Better purchase the after market in dash dvd player with 7" screen, cost me $1300 installed.

Considering Aussies have to pay AUS $157,000 or about US$85,000 for a C32, we get a bit more options that US spec. We get Command, TV, rain sensor as standard… and that’s about I can think of, not a lot of options for US$30,000 well…that’s because we have to pay 30% Luxury Car Tax ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
When we took the delivery of our C32 I told the sales rep to enable the TV while the car is moving…this is illegal but I was able to persuade him to do it anyway. If you drive your car in the city area where there are plenty of tall buildings then its kinda useless having the TV cos there’s plenty of interference sometimes all you see is just static

take one simple examples,
nearly all Japanese cars sold in Japan has motorised folding mirror which allow you to fold both mirrors at one button, even the cheapest car like Honda Civic has that in Japan. Well true parking space is not a problem in most places in US but in big cities like NYC and SF you might need that features and car manufacturers are try to make US cars as generic in configuration as possible.
