servce A light
hey all my mom has a 2007 c280 4matic (us spec). We were recently quoted 500+ dollars for service a which included an oil change, so we brought it to the family indy who did it for us for alot cheaper. So service a is complete but how do i remove the "Service a exceeded by XXX miles"

6) Now to Re-set the maintenance indicator . . .
-- Ignition to on (but not start)
-- Page dash display to odometer
-- Arrow down to Service Indicator
-- Press Reset Botton (left side of instrumentcluster) 6 seconds until is asks to reset
-- Press again for 3 seconds to reset.
-- The next maintenance interval should display (13000 miles)
I did this and it worked

They are assuming you used MB spec oil, which is basicly a 0W-40 Mobil One synthetic. 13,000 miles is normal, provided your independent mechanic used the correct oil. I know when I worked at an indedpendent shop, every Benz that came in got the same oil as the 1992 Corolla before it. Now I am at the dealer, and they use 0W-40 Mobil One.

That is pretty funny and scary. However I think everyone saw the clips of the now infamous scenario where the news reporter went to several oil change shops of a certain franchise and none of the work ordered was completed correctly and some wasn't even Done. My wife and one of my daughters went to a local auto shop for a state inspection and a goof tried to fool them into a $1000 dollar job. No dice, they got real suspicious since the car had just come back from a reputable dealer and they checked the suspension out and there was no issue. They also checked it again and there was no issue.

And yeh, that one big advantage of DIY.
You want it done right, do it yourself.

Is @ Home
And not a lot of people have the knowledge/tools to do stuff like an oil change or a fuel filter replacement or even diagnose a CEL light. So how can you get it done right....?
