Brake caliper position - curious
I've noticed that car companies locate their calipers all over the place (i.e orientation) Most Japanese cars the front caliper is at the leading edge where as German cars are typically at the trailing edge of the front wheel and some mini-vans the rears are placed at 12 o'clock. Most rears on the otherhand are at the trailling edge.
The C-class has both examples, the RWD models have it trailing and the 4Matic have it at the leading edge.
Does anyone have an idea other than logistics that one location has an advantage/disadvantage than the other?

I just noticed my car has the caliper on the leading edge for the front. and it DOES NOT have the Mercedes Benz letters on it.
Does anyone know if it fell off or is it like that from the factory?
