A/C at WOT question

While entering the interstate in a rather aggressive manner (don't you just love the people who think that the yield sign on an entrance ramp means stop), I noticed that the air coming from the vents seemed to be rather warm. When I reached cruising speed, the air was cold, just like normal.

Do these cars shut off the air compressor at wide open throttle? My last car did, and you would definately notice the difference after you stood on the accellerator for a while. Sorry if this is covered in the owner's manual -- I have yet to receive one.

Thanks,
Rich

Yes, they are designed that way. Reason being, if you have your boot jammed against the carpet you’re signaling for maximum thrust. No sense wasting the horsepower required to spin the A/C compressor when it should be directed toward a higher calling.

How often are you at WOT for extended periods anyway? With the anti-destination league traffic around here, fifteen seconds is about all I can hope for!

I always love the way Splinter puts things! "Anti-destination league": now that's funny.
