Battery Relocation Kit for the W203: Anyone Done This?
I got my Jlevi SI re-programmed computer today. Fun! But now I have the go-fast bug and I really want to move my battery to the trunk. Like the M3s out of the factory. It just makes sense. 60 lbs less over the nose heavy C-Class and 60 lbs. more over the light rear end. Has anyone seen a kit for the W203? I found nothing on the forums or much of anything on Google. Who makes one? And how was the job? I know it can be kind of a biatch.

Not too hard. It will be the same as any other car, run large power cable from original spot to new spot in trunk. Mount approved battery box and ground original and new grounds to chassis.

just buy a lightweight battery rather than going through the hassle of moving it into the trunk and possibly raising some electrical issues. my old w202 C280 had the battery in the trunk as well, so if MB moved the battery from the trunk of the w202 back to the engine compartment of the w203, then there must have been some sort of reasoning...

Didn't think about that. I checked out the Odyssey PC680 (15 lbs, 17 ah) and the Dyna Batt 5575B (13 lbs., 16 ah). Not a bad idea. That would shed over 40 lbs from the front. Just don't leave it hooked up to the car if you're not going to drive it for over a couple of weeks. It will get sucked dry by your clock! I like it though, thanks!
