Jim B, are you going to do anything about your semi-functional self-installed climatronic unit? Like take it to the dealer and say "it broke"? I mean, it's nice to have the impressive graphics and all but I think every one of the climate control functions is too important to do without.

unforutnately. i can't give you any documentation on this observation bc it is juts something i observed at my dealership (which i thought i typed in, but apparently not). all 3 of the coupes that they had there with COMAND had digital controls for climate. that's all i'm saying, i saw it at my dealership.

Okay, according to my manual, the digital climate control is supposed to function like this... when I press AUTO, the light that that illuminates the vent selections (around the AUTO button, aove, below and both sides of the AUTO button) should go out. Pressing AUTO a second time should cause the vent selections to light up, allowing, I assume, the user to adjust where the air comes out in AUTO mode. Once I press AUTO, the lights around the vent selections stay out no matter how many times I pres AUTO. Further, the only way to go back to manual mode from AUTO is to adjust the vent selector knob, at which time the AUTO light goes out and the vent selections illuminate. Is this normal for a car that wasn't designed for the digital climate control from the factory or should I still get the functions outlined in the manual that I posted above?
thanks
Jim
