I have this piece of plastic and it fell out somewhere around the aircofiltercap when I removed the filter to reach the battery. Anyone???

Its from a c200 sportcoupe

 

Does the item have a part # on it? Lots of the MB stuff has one, even the smallest bits of plastic. If it has a part #, try searching for it on one of the parts websites: www.buymbparts.com, Duvall (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=213951), oempartsdirect.com or www.performanceproducts4benz.com. The last website (and maybe others) has schematics and you might be able to see where the part is located. Just a suggestion.

Sorry dude, but your pictures suck. Too dark, and I'm to lazy to enhance them. However, having been there, I can say that it appears this is the piece that holds the cabin air filter in place, and directs filtered air into the cabin. Long side toward the filter, funneled bit to the cabin.

Hope that is what it is.

Thanks. Now I'm getting somewhere and sorry for the dark pics. Now could you be just a little bit more specific about where the thing goes. Is it on top of the filter, the sides or the bottom?

Tried to put the puzzle together, but I can't figure it out.

Looking at the first pic it looks like its a holder to which one of the three clips should attach to when they are fastened down.

When you reassembled everything and fastened the retaining clips, did they all fasten down properly? Or does one still lift up/feel loose even in the closed position?

 

afaik they all fasten properly. But i'll have to recheck that.

 

Ok, I found out where the clip from the above pics belongs. It's one of the clips that fastens the window washer grill to the hood.
