Stuck EC / REST button light on...

I just noticed this yesterday... My EC light on the climate control is lighted and I cant get it to turn off... any ideas?

Also I have some noise when I make left turns? What can I expect the dealer to say the cause of this is?

Thanks
Ensey

EC

From page 155 in the manual - if the Economy light illuminates and will not turn off, you car has suffered a critical loss of refrigerant. Take it to the dealer and have it repaired before the hot weather comes

Well thats great.... First I loose 2 quarts of oil in one trip and now I have lost my freon.... grand So I can only assume that all of my steering fluid leaked out as well and that is why I have a noisy steering column

Eric,

Check where the leak is first before filling. Change the dryer on the evap at the same time.

Well i'm back from recharging my freon, and it hasn't shut off the ECC light! GRRRR! Not to mention it was completely out of freon. Is there something to do to reset?

Sunil, thanks for the heads up. I went by a local MB shop I just found out about and they loaded it up with dye. The valve where you hook on was leaking and they replaced the stem. I had only lost 20% of my gas so I might have a bad switch. He left me with a fully charged AC system with dye in it and we are going to watch and see if it was just a fluke or I have a bad switch. No way to tell on the switch since we had a billion codes set, THANKS MB USA for never clearing any of those for me.

He said the AC shuts down when you lose 40% of your charge. My light should have never come on and I am guessing a lot of people here have slow leaks like me and MB USA never caught it.

PS Nice to see you are up and running.

hey,

Ive had this problem and was fixed by the stealers. your AC probably doesnt work. there is either a leak or a ac compressor fault.

My light is on sometimes even though the fan knob is at zero. I just turn the knob a bit past the zero and the light goes off.
