I was doing a search (so that no one jump on me) and I think I have two of the issues stated on the TSB posted by MBTech: Purge valve clicking noise at idle and Windshield fogging above center vent. I also have a rattling/vibrating sound coming from the rear hatch (I think the glass area) when going over some rough patch (I removed everything from back to make sure and also 3M double-side taped the license plate holder to plate and still hears it (pretty loud). Does anyone have any other issues on their 02 2.3L 230k coupe that's not listed here https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...rvice+bulletin
I also read about the benefit of 221# keys over 217# which I have but can I get the 221 if i dont really have any issues with my 217 keys (that remote hatch button would be nice)? Thanks all.

*BTW my car is only 1700mi and 1.5 months old (built date 04/2002). This is my first new car so am I being to harsh or paranoid?

i have a rattle in the rear hatch area also; i'm fairly sure mine comes from the looseness of the plastic surrounding the glass. if you push in on the plastic with your finger, it'll make that "popping" sound just like it does when i go over rough spots in the road.

my glove compartment lid does the same thing.

Dealer kind of shrugged his shoulder on the rear "noise". I didn't bring up the other 2 issues. Will wait for next service.

My ESP and BAS malfunctioned, or at least, I was given that message by the computer the other day. Took it into the dealer and they said it was an electrical connection problem. Fixed.

I've heard about the purge valve issue from people here but mine does not seem to make that sound, at least not that I can hear. I just had mine replaced because of another problem with it. It was sticking open and letting all the vapors in the engine, so that the car would flood with vapors when i filled up the tank and wouldn't start.

But anyway, I mentioned the purge valve when they were trying to figure it out. I work at the dealer, so I was talking to the shop foreman about it. The purge valve opens and closes to slowly let the vapors in and burn them off. So if you hear the ticking noise, that means it is working. I guess if it is really loud there might be a problem because some people's aren't loud. But just because you hear it does not mean it is broken.
