2005 C230 SS
Exclamation

Hi everyone, I found this thread and wanted to revive it because I have had my 2005 C230 SS now for around 3 years and a half....and the car has asked me 3 or 4 times to add a quart of oil??

Is this normal and has anyone else experienced this?

On the way to work today it happened again so I am just wondering...
I am coming up to my 50,000 miles and even though I have an extended warranty from Geico I want to make sure this issue doesn't lead to something bigger.

Thanks in advance for any help....

Search: cam sensor oil leak

If they are leaking, especially that much oil, you're already into a bigger issue. Should be covered under warranty.

My car had asked for oil very 2k or so.
After taking the car to the dealer to have it fixed, they told me it was within factory specs and there was no leak.

LIARS!
After doing an oil change myself, I saw the pan was stained with oil! The SOB's at the dealer didn't even check!!!! the gasket was no good. After replacing it myself, it was fine and the car has not asked for additional oil since.

That's the last time I'm going to the dealer for stuff like this.

I just bought an 05, and it told me to add 1 quart after the drive home. I hope that's not going to be a normal occurrence.

Cars that are in good mechanical condition should not use any noticeable amount of oil between changes. I have had cars that were NOT in good mechanical condition that didn't use a drop of oil.

When the dealer did the oil changes back in the days of free maint.
They only put 6 quarts in.
It takes 7.

So, I was always adding oil.
Now I DIY, top it right up (don't overfill!)
and I never add oil!
When it tell me it needs oil, I just change it, since by that time, it wants 2 quarts, and what the point of pouring 2 quarts of clean oil into dirty oil.
So, these days that happens around 7-10K miles.
