i wouldnt mind taking my car to a car wash if any of these places did it right... i heard the place in great neck will do a full hand wash as in bucket and scrubbing with a mitt and not brushes for like 20 or 30 bucks not sure....

Wow! That would certainly defeat the purpose of washing the underside of your car. Do they not filter and desalinize the recycled water? (I live in the desert, and we don't have too many road salt issues.)

From you guys' experience, would you say there is any difference between the the cheap (gas station or equivalent) car washes and the independent car wash businesses that have a longer, more legitimate conveyer with people that dry your car afterwards, etc.?

Essentially, the inner workings seem the same, but do the car washes where washing cars is their sole income use higher quality soaps, brushes, water, etc? I've never been able to tell if their higher prices are justified and if their techniques are healthy for your paint...or if its just the same ole crap.
