i hope this helps some. i have an upsolute chip in my VW right now. i got it 3 months after i bought it brand new. everytime i took the car in for scheduled maintenance or warranty repair they have never said a thing or had the slightest worry. i had my instrument cluster replaced 3 times under warranty. the 2nd time was my fault when i took the cluster apart in order to get the rear fog light indicator to light up after i installed the rear fog and european light switch. whether it was my fault or not, the instrument clusters in the New Beetles had an awful reputation for the check engine light to come on, and stay on. instrument cluster 1 and 2 had the check engine light, the 3rd one the bell that chimes when your lights are on or key is in the ignition started to sound like it was dying, and it did, so they replaced the 3rd one. when upsolute installs the chip in your car, they remove the ECU. then they copy all the flash mem thats on the current ECU into the new Upsolute chip. then the new upsolute chip is soldered on the ECU. because all the original specs, VIN, engine type, etc, which were on the original chip are flashed onto the new Upsolute chip, the computer cant tell the difference when hooked up to car. there may some extreme testing that they could do to detect a chip, i dont know. all in all i would say you are pretty safe. if the chip is detected im sure it will void some part of the warranty, but chances are they wont know. i have friends w/ upsolute in TDI VW, Audi TT, BMW E46. they are all pleased as am i with mine. they also have a lot of info on their website
