7G transmission install in 2005 c230k?

My transmission may have been leaking some fluid and the dealership is taking a look at the tranny now. I was wondering if the tranny went bad, would it be possible to mate the new 7G tranny to the m271. I figure with the low/mid end torque of the m271 and the extra gears, this would make for quite a nice pairing both from a daily driving and performance perspective. Is this combo available in any other countries? Would this even be possible? My car is almost out of warranty, so I wouldn't mind the tranny switch voiding my warranty if that would be the case.

why? If your under warranty the repair to your trans will be free... they won't put a 7 speed in for free.

Also it would probably be very difficult to do.

well, C200k is available in other country with 7G, so it should be a direct swap, but you would need to have a new TCU as well. It will be costly however, so my suggestion is the same as kar don, just have the dealer fix it under warranty.

Even if the tranny seized up...the dealership would only rebuilt the tranny under warranty unless it is really f-ed up that requires a replacement.

the tranny leak could be as simple as a leaking tranny connector, which I think is common on our 05s, I just had mine replaced for $180 so even if you're out of warranty it's not too bad, but then again, it may not be what i'm describing. do a search for tranny connector, there's even a diy for the connector replacement. goodluck.

It was just the connector. I was a little excited about the prospect of the better drivability, milage and performance of the 7G. I think its the perfect tranny for the powerband of our little blown 4. Money is no longer an object for me (but wasting gas is still morally objectionable), so i would have paid the extra scratch for the 7G - had the sh*t hit the fan.

Oh well, I am gonna get an NSX soon anyways and that will fill whatever performance needs I may have.
