However there is a speaker in the dash... Any ideas how to get sound coming out of this thing??? I know there is a speaker there cuz it acts like a magnet there... like if i put a paperclip there it gets attracted...

There's a speaker grille in the dash, yes, but there is no speaker behind it. Unless you had the BOSE system (which you don't since you installed the aftermarket HU with little trouble), you don't have it.

And search! Any mention of a center grille, dash speaker, or aftermarket sound systems would have mentioned the number and placement of the speakers for each MY. Welcome to the forums.
