On Board Computer

I had C230 for over 2 months (2700 miles) and I like to track overall MPG however this morning overall MPG/mileage indicate screen got reset by itself. Is there a mechanism that does by it self if it reach certain mileage or overall time of the driving? I don't think it is a big deal however I am just curious (I might accidently done it too). Is anyone know anything about this or had experience on this?

Trip Meter Resets Self

I have had the same problem where the overall (not daily) trip meter reset itself twice. There is no internal mechanism to do this automatically, you need to bring up that screen and then hold the reset button in for a few seconds. I complained about it on my last service but they couldn't find anything wrong. MB said if it continues and I want it fixed they will order a new 'unit' and it would take at least a day to reprogram with proper miles etc. It hasn't happened again, and I agree it's not a big problem, so I don't know if I want them taking my car apart to replace it.

The "AFTER RESET" screen will reset itself at 100 hours.

If you've never used the reset button, I'd bet this is what happened.

Wha?

Trench...not sure what you mean. The resets that I saw had nothing to do with 100 hrs. Are you refering to the daily trip meter? No way the overall trip meter would reset after 100 hrs.

C230Jeff is correct.

I noticed that MBSJ said he liked to keep track of "overall MPG" and that he had about 2700 miles. This would be 100 hours at an average speed of 27 mph (which is probably normal for someone that does mostly city). I could be mistaken, however, and MBSJ's problem is similar to the one you've had.

I think you are right. I have not reset this screen ("After Reset")since I got the car and if it resets itself after 100 hours of driving then it could just be that. So if this thing reach 100 hours then everything on this screen reset to "0" right? After that we are starting over until it reaches 100 hours of driving time.

Hmmm.....

Sorry, still don't understand. Yes, the daily trip meter probably can't go beyond 100, but the overall trip meter (not the odometer) can go on as long as the odometer. I have a 320, I wonder if the trip meters are different, I doubt it.

It's only the "trip computer" portion that resets at 100 hours (the "AFTER RESET" screen that gives miles traveled, elaspsed time, mileage and speed). The trip odometer (on the screen with the main odometer) doesn't reset unless the button is pushed.

Odometer (no mileage/speed averages available). 2. Daily (resetable), and 3. Overall (resetable, one directory up from 'Daily'). They are all reset using the same button. The 'Daily' resets itself after X hours..not 100, but I think 4 hours. 'Daily' and 'Overall' give time, average fuel consumption, and average speed.

"Since Start" resets after 4 hours. "Since Reset" will reset at 100 hours of operation. On my car it appears that just the time of operation and miles reset, and not the mpg or average speed. But, I'm not certain of that.
